Tattoo lesson No.3 (practical)

nyahahah...the last post was on a pomelo skin...this time its on my own leg! my sifus gave me the chance to rock it on my own skin today...

it was fuckin fun...altho i had to be in this awkward-leg-cramping position for quite long...this was done on my left inner calf just below my knee...so i had to sit cross legged the hold time...with my left had stretching the skin...right hand holding the machine...and right leg pressing the foot pedal...

but wicked...i loved it man...

tattoo lesson no.1

had my 1st tattoo lesson today, josh and kevin were gracious enough to take some time to guide me through the whole process. rather than start on my own skin, they advised me to try it on a fruit, who also happens to be my frien from ipoh, pomelo anderson. she agreed to be my guinea pig. so there you have it, my first attempt at handling the tattoo machine just to get a feel of it. outline pretty solid for a first timer dun you think? :) i reckon ill be goin thru a few of pomelo's twin sisters for awhile before i start on my own skin. i really would like to get to know the tattoo machine a lil better first. again, thanks josh and kevin for your time. btw, the tochang at was added by kevin later...hhahhahah...

KONVCTN

i just got a new tattoo this evening at Black Cat Tattoo Studio, this time i got Kevin to work on it, Kevin has got enough skills to just impress you. the idea struck me on friday nite when i was talking to Carol about the idea of having conviction in every decision that you make. as i was thinking about if further, i recognize that its really one of the principles that i have based my life on. i decided to get it inked permanently on my knuckles...im basically into oldskool design tats, but i really didnt want oldskool fonts tattooed on my knuckles as i felt that for lettering as strong as the word 'conviction', you'd really need a font which was really bold in black shading. so i went looking for fonts and i found a russian text-styled font which i felt was really bold and strong. i decided with getting the word 'conviction' by dropping out all the vowels...cos i only have eight fingers (minus the thumbs), i only included the first 'o' so that the whole word became more obvious. check it out...

wedding bells and funky smells...

like i said...been pretty bz...however i did manage to fit in a couple of pre-wedding shoots. the first was for my buddy Ming and her husband Johnson. i managed to convince them to let me plan and art direct their entire pre-wedding/invitation package. i suggested we go with a vintage 'shanghai' theme, and Ming loved it and it so happens to gel with her original theme of cherry blossoms. for this one i got the help of another buddy/photographer Jason. we used his mums tea house in bangsar for the shoot, as well as his brand new Nikon D3. below are 4 of the shots we chosed and i retouched to get the wedding invites going.

the next was Carols cousin Jerry and wife Serene. this time round, Carol is art directing and im just the photographer and retoucher :P we made a trip to Malacca and shot there. but no...we didnt shoot at the usual spots...we found a cool alley in jalan bunga raya where we practically had half the day to do what we want without interruption. im only posting one now, cos we are still not done with this project.

uncle was looking through his old stuff among his old squash racquet collection...bowling balls...records and stuff...then uncle found this old picture taken together with auntie...ahhh...such wonderful memories...everytime uncle sit down after dinner to read his papers, auntie would sit down beside to tell uncle about her day...and pamper uncle with her delicious homemade cookies...

p/s: Johnson has recovered from the nasty incident, he is alive and well...Kai has been rehabilitated and has now once again become part of the community, he is now happy and normal.

dangerous people

i got this shot when i was visiting an illegal fight club in Vietnam last month...its not only illegal...these brutally angry and fierce 'fighters' are only in their early 20's, and have been brought up by their caretakers since the early ages of five. They live in a very basic and almost unsanitary environment...and everyday trained to fight...and some to kill in a fight...they only heed their master. Everyone else is expandible.

this particular fighter known only as 'kai' caught my eye...(shit it rhymes) sitting there in one corner waiting his turn to unleash his brutality on his next opponent...something about him just struck me...his eyes...white as ivory sunken in his grimy face just gave me that creepy feeling that no one should mess around with him...i took this shot while he was looking away and quickly hid my camera...i didnt stay for the fight...because i rather let this shot trap all emotions and feelings i had about kai...

i shudder everytime i look at this picture...
